sgraffito - n., decoration produced on pottery or ceramic by scratching through a surface glaze to reveal a different color underneath; ware decorated this manner.


Sometimes spelled less interestingly as scraffito. From Italian for scratched, with the s- being an intensive prefix, and so related to graffiti. Wikipedia mostly talks about its architectural uses.
