skosh (SKOHSH) - n., a little bit, a jot.

From Japanese sukoshi (少し), which in standard pronunciation comes out s'kohshi, meaning the American pronunciation -- it's almost entirely used in America -- is remarkably close to the original. First citations in various dictionaries are 1951, 1952, or 1955, which suggests it was picked up by American servicemen during the Korean War, but there are stories of it being used by Occupation Forces after WWII.
