knismesis/gargalesis
Oct. 27th, 2006 07:03 amNot relatives this time, but contrasts:
knismesis - n., the light, feathery type of tickling.
gargalesis - n., the harder, laughter-inducing type of tickling.
The former being the itchy sort of sensation one can induce in oneself, while it's nearly impossible to give yourself the latter. Wikipedia explains it all, or at least much; cf. also this.
