nocuous (NOK-yoo-uhs) - adj., likely to cause harm, noxious.

The little-seen stem of its negation, innocuous. Adopted around 1630 from Latin nocuus, harmful, from nocēre, to hurt/injure, and yes that nec- has the same PIE root as necro, as in death.
