frowsy or frowzy (FROU-zee) - adj., unkempt, slovenly; musty, stale.


I usually use it in the first senses, but I've seen it in the second. Origin unknown (though possibly related to its synonym frowsty), first used in print in 1681 by Restoration dramatist Thomas Otway, in The Souldier's Fortune.

My father loves this word, I do not know why. He constantly uses it in both senses. Accurately, just, often.
