phrontistery
Feb. 23rd, 2021 07:46 amphrontistery (FRANT-uh-ster-ee) - n., a place for thinking or study.
Also, sometimes by humorous extension, the toilet/lavatory. I've run this before, but it's been a while and it's such a pretty good word. Always rare, but it's been around for a while because it's the name of Socrates's school in Aristophanes' The Clouds. It's also the name of a pretty good website. Adopted from Ancient Greek phrontistērion, from phrontistēs, philosopher/thinker, from phrontizein to think/reflect.
