monger - n., a dealer in a specific commodity; a person promoting something undesirable or disreputable.

Usually used in combination: fishmonger, scandalmonger. From Old English mangere, from Latin mango, dealer or trader, from a noun derivative of Greek manganon, charm, means of enchantment. The PIE root is *mang-, to embellish, dress, trim. Wicked.
