The rarer feminine equivalent of avuncular -- literally, as it's from the Latin mÄtertera, maternal aunt, just as avunculus is maternal uncle. This is uncommon enough, most dictionaries don't even have it, which is kinda a shame as it alliterates nicely with maternal.
