kilter (KIL-ter) - n., good condition, proper form.

Almost always used in a negative form such as off-kilter or out of kilter. Only used as a noun, not an adjective, so you can't say that something is kilter -- instead, it's in kilter. First recorded in 1628, origin unknown, but the dialect variation kelter looks to have appeared first, but that's no help since its origin is also unknown.

Next week will involve a lot of combined fricatives -- all in good kilter. (Unless "good kilter" is redundant. Is "good kilter" redundant? I think it is.)
