adelphic (uh-DEL-fik) - adj., of a form of polyandry in which a woman is married to two or more brothers.

Sometimes also used for polygyny in which a man is married to two or more sisters, but that's more commonly called sororate. Adelphic polyandry is still practiced in parts of India, Nepal, Tibet, and central Africa, among other places. Coined in 1896 from Ancient Greek root adelphikós, brotherly, from adelphós, brother, from PIE form *sm̥-gʷelbʰ-ó-s, one/same womb.
