zythology (zai-THO-loh-jee) - n., the study of beer and beer-brewing.
A recent coinage that has not made it into many dictionaries (I found no usages from before 2010, but didn't search hard), but has decent use since at least the mid-2010s. Related terms include zythologist and zythophile, and compare oenology and vinology, both meaning the study of wine and wine-making. Coined from Ancient Greek zûthos, used for both Egyptian barley beer (also called zûtos) and Scythian beer, origin uncertain but could be Egyptian, Proto-Scythian, or from zúmē, yeast, or zéō, boil/froth/seethe (from PIE *yes-, boil/foam) + -ology, study of.
