douroucouli (door-uh-KOO-lee) - n., any New World monkey of the genus Aotus, which is nocturnal, has large eyes, and nearly earless.


Currently accounted as having 11 species -- also called night monkey or owl monkey. Earless in the sense of very small external ear, btw, as they hear just fine. We got the name from French, from an unidentified native name probably from Venuzeula.
