The sequel theme to 5x5 is, of course, 6x6. Which, yes, will rove over to the start of next week, but I think we can handle that.


pindan (PIN-duhn, PIN-dan) - n., (Aus.) semiarid scrubland; the vegetation of such scrubland.


Often specifically a region in Kimberley, in the north of Western Australia on the fringe of the Great Sandy Desert, with distinctive red soil:

Semiarid is key here: it gets enough monsoonal rain to have forests but not enough for the trees to grow to the full size they do on the coast. The word's from a First Peoples language, but no one seems to know which.
