Small in this case means up to about 35 cm long, which means readily visible to divers. It is a protogynous hermaphrodite, starting adult life as female then morphing to male after breeding, then breeding again later in life. Its name comes not from that, however, but from its ability to evade predators thanks to a slippery mucus it excretes. Needless to say, it's a funny name.
