Applies more to the age of manuscripts than today, but still cool. The ink is made of powdered gold suspended in a small amount of glair or gum, which takes specific technique to apply. First used in the early 1850s, from Ancient Greek chrȳsographía, from chryso-, golden + -graphy, writing.
