queachy (KWEECH-ee) - adj., (of ground) boggy, moist and yielding under the feet.


More common in British than American English, but it's used in the States as well. (There's also a regional American meaning, a synonym for queasy, but I'm treating that as another word with the same spelling/pronunciation.) The deep root is an obsolete meaning of queach, to stir or move, from either the root of quick as in living, which is Old English cwic, or Old English cweccan, to shake.
