benignant (bih-NIG-nuhnt) - adj., kind and gracious; exerting a good influence, beneficial.


And in pathology, benign, but why confuse things with technical jargon. The less-common antonym of malignant, and indeed coined in 1782 on the model of that word, using benign (from Latin benignus, kind, from bonus, good + (gi)gnere, to beget) instead of malign (from malus, bad).
