hochle - "To tumble lewdly with women in open day." —John Mactaggart's Scottish Gallovidian Encyclopedia, 1824
According to Jamieson's 1825 Etymological Dictionary of the Scottish Language (which quotes the above definition), it could also mean to walk with short steps or to shuffle, shamble, walk with difficulty.
