Searching about reveals that it's also spelled hinkaponk, and that some Harry Potter think this is the origin of the name of Rowling's hinkypunks -- even though hinkypunks are figures from English (specifically, Dartmore) folklore, as a search of Google Books would reveal. Ah, the vanity of human wishes.
